With an experience of over 3 decades in private practice, Dr. Irfan is attached as honorary ophthalmologist to many of the city’s prominent hospitals.Following the footsteps of his illustrious father, Dr. Z. K. Khatib, Dr Irfan joined medical college in the year 1977. He completed his undergraduate medical education (MBBS) from the prestigious Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital in Mumbai. He did his subsequent Post Graduation, Masters in Surgery (M.S) from the same college. He also completed his D.O.M.S. in Ophthalmology from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai. He has served as resident ophthalmologist for several years in leading hospitals in Mumbai.
Dr. Irfan Khatib started his private practice at KHATIB EYE CLINIC (KEC) as Consultant Ophthalmologist in the year 1986. He practice flourished as it echoed the same ethics, dedication and service to humanity as those of his father. Dr. Irfan envisioned a dream : that of placing premium eye care within easy reach without compromising quality or technique. Since then, KEC has been relentlessly striving towards the realization of this dream. He started his own LASIK Centre called PERFECT VISION LASER CENTRE (PVLC). Today KEC and PVLC are equipped with latest equipments, comparable to the best hospitals the world over.
In the course of his thirty years in practice, Dr Irfan khatib has actively participated in various national and international conferences where he has presented papers on various topics. He is an active member of the Bombay Ophthalmologist Association, The All India Ophthalmic Society, The Maharashtra Ophthalmologist Association, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons among others.
Dr. Irfan Khatib is known as much for his surgical expertise as for his humane and personal touch to each and every one of his patients irrespective of caste, creed and financial status. He is attached to various charitable centres in Mumbai as well as rural Maharashtra. With an innate desire to reach out to a larger section of the society, he has passionately involved himself with providing eye care to rural areas. He is the founder trustee of Kalsekar Hospital in Mumbra on the outskirts of Mumbai which provides world class services to patients at charitable rates.
Dr. Sandeep Asher is one of the most competent and renowned Vitreoretinal Surgeons of Mumbai. He completed M.B.B.S. from Grant Medical College & J. J. Hospital in 1996 and did his subsequent Post Graduation, M.S. (Ophthalmology) from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore in 2000.
Dr. Kunjal Sejpal is a visiting Cornea specialist. She completed her MBBS from the prestigious KEM Hospital. Thereafter she completed her post graduation from the world renowned Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. She also did her subsequent fellowship in Cornea from the same institute. After doing clinical research in L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, she underwent training at Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA, Los Angeles. She returned to L V Prasad Eye Institute, where she worked as Faculty. Her areas of interests include keratoconus management with collagen cross-linking, INTACS and specialized contact lens fitting, corneal transplantation including DALK and DSEK, chemical injuries, corneal infections, tumours and limbal transplantation.
Dr Sneha J. Shah completed her postgraduation in Ophthalmology and was the silver medalist in the university. Her interest in Oculoplastics took her to LV Prasad eye institute, Hyderabad, which is a premier eye institute in India, to pursue training in Oculoplastics and Ocular Oncology. She was closely involved with the National Retinoblastoma Registry under the aegis of ICMR. She went on to gain further experience in the field, under her mentor Dr Santosh Honavar at Centre for Sight, Hyderabad. She travelled to USA to enhance her training in Facial Aesthetics at Austin, Texas and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Priyanka Vora is the Paediatiric Ophthalmologist and Strabismologist at Khatib Eye Clinic. After completing her M. S. in Ophthalmology with a distinction, she pursued her passion in Paediatric eye care at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai which is the largest eye hospital in Asia. There she received intensive training under the pioneer of Paediatric Ophthalmology in India, Dr. P. Vijayalakshmi. She also learnt Orthoptics under the world renowned Daisy Goodts, at Antwerp, Belgium during her tenure.
Dr. Swapna Shah completed her graduation (MBBS) in 2004 from Lokmanya Tilak Medical College and Sion Hospital in Mumbai. She did her post graduation in Ophthalmology (M.S. Ophthalmology) from the prestigious Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital, Mumbai in 2009. She also passed her DNB in Ophthalmology in the year 2010. She also passed her DOMS examination where she secured a gold medal. She also passed her International Council of Ophthalmology Examination (London) of PHICO. After this she joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi for two years as Senior Registrar, where she worked and trained under the leaders in the field and obtained extensive experience in Orbit and Oculoplasty surgeries. She then joined a long term fellowship program in Orbit, Oculoplasty and Ocular oncology at the world renowned Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai where she honed her technical skills under the guidance of Dr. Usha Kim, a stalwart in the field.
